charter MiCIS is part of the DTI's campaign to foster the industrial
development of biotechnology through support of industrially
oriented work in culture collections of microorganisms and
information services for industry. Eventually it will contain
data from all the U.K. National Culture Collections (over 30,000
strains). The physical properties of microorganisms listed in
MiCIS include growth and preservation, sensitivity and tolerance,
substrate utilization, enzymes and metabolites produced and
morphology.
